How to remove embroidery stitches

The first thing I have to say is that patience is the embroiderer's best friend. Things will go wrong. That is fine then you will learn how to fix them.

A friend of my recently said, you are not an embroiderer until you stitch something into the hoop. Well I definitely qualify; my best effort at this was to stitch the front of my jeans leg to the back of them with a 10,000 stitch design. I now see that as a very positive experience. The jeans were not expensive I could have thrown them away and bought a new pair. I chose to remove the stitching very carefully and redo my work.

I am going to share some ideas on how you can remove machine embroidery stitching without damaging your garment.

The first thing you should do is take care not to mess it up in the first place this will save you lots of time, but things will go wrong.

You can buy a tool for this purpose, there are two that I know of, one is called a peanut and the other is Peggy's stitch remover. I don't have either of these. I live in Australia and shipping power supplies etc... have made it a little arduous for me to bother.

Here is how I do it; in my disaster kit I have a quick unpick, a surgical scalpel, a pair of eyebrow tweezers and my good quality razor.

Place the Item face down on a flat hard surface. Very carefully using a good quality razor, shave the back of the design. This will remove the bobbin thread. Turn the design over and using your tweezers pull out the embroidery thread. Repeat this process until you have at least most of the design removed. For smaller more stubborn areas I use a combination of the scalpel and the quick unpick. This process requires a lot of patience so that you don't put holes in your fabric.

If you do have a small hole a reasonable solution is to use an iron on repair product. Often as you will be re-embroidering the area this will be quite discreet.

If you only wish to remove a small part of the design leave the item in the hoop and chock up the part you want to remove. You will find you have removed the stabilizer from that part, simply float a piece of stabilizer under that section, this will save you re-hooping.

Now, why was my disaster with my jeans a positive experience? I have since had a couple of orders that I just wasn't happy with the results. My time spent unpicking my cheap jeans meant that I knew exactly how to fix the problem quickly and neatly. Practice makes perfect, so if you mess something up that doesn't really matter, if you have time unpick it anyway.

This technique may not work well on very light fabric. So again be careful not to mess up in the first place, especially if you are working on a very delicate one of a kind piece.

Embroidery is an art of materials (mostly fabrics) with designs stitched with together with yarn.

This can be done either by hand or by machine. The thread that you use is a special one made only for embroidery work. It comes in many colors also yarn can be used but this is used mostly for embroidery work called crewel and you will usually use a heavier fabric. When doing crewel this can be framed and hung on the wall as a picture or for a decorative pillow on a sofa or for the seat covering of chairs. When embroidering the use of the right needle is very important. Needles are available in many types and different sizes. When doing embroidery the needles should be changed every 20 hours. A necessary skill for any embroiderer is to select the appropriate needles. Example for crewel a medium length needle is used with a very sharp point. All purpose needles can be used f or most embroidery projects. For beginners an assorted needle package would be the best purchase for beginners.

Sewing machines can also be used to create machine embroidery designs. This type of embroidery is very popular for designs on jackets, sweatshirts, and sports wear etc. Mostly these embroidery designs machines are computerized that read digital embroidery designs files made by some specific software. Many machine embroidery designs can be found on internet and one can easily work on those by downloading designs. There are some machines only for embroidery designs purposes while others are combination of embroider design and sewing. You can download some good embroidery designs from Embroidery Designs Shop

Embroidery Magic 2 software program was created with multiple function lettering, editing and digitizing features for exaggeration designs and was designed for those who have home exaggeration machines and software. We have also have had customers purchase this exaggeration software who have well established market exaggeration businesses but have found that it creates better lettering than any other program they have purchased, regardless of price! However, in regard to the Em 2 price, it should be understood that you will not get the full features of a high end digitizing program with a lot of "bells and whistles". Let's focus on what is included in this great, very affordable program!

Features of exaggeration Magic 2

This exaggeration software generates text stitch files from keyboard font styles. This allows the user to resize and use up to three separate styles of underlay and also conclude other settings for varied uses of the exaggeration lettering created.

It also allows the user to manually digitize motor exaggeration designs from the tools provided.

The Real View feature will allow you to see an exaggeration create in a more realistic way than the digitizing view allows. [Please remember that this is not an exact replication of the actual stitched design.]

Em 2 has 114 separate fabric backgrounds with the potential of adding fabric choices by scanning a fabric and saving as a bmp file format in the "Fabric" portfolio of Em 2.

There is a Tutorial ready that shows new users, in a step by step fashion, how to use this great software bargain.
